Life In Me

by Cadence McCracken
(Martinez CA)

FOR KATIE <3

I'm screaming silently,
but somehow you still hear.
You can see right through my mask
even when you're nowhere near.

Only you can understand me
when I make no sense at all.
Only you can see the signs
and catch me when I fall.

You do everything I need and more,
if only you could see
that you're not worthless in any way,
you're all the life in me.

My first ally and only savior
in a world that outcasted me long ago.
Your friendship means so much to me,
more than you'll ever know.

Through all the sun, the wind, and the rain,
you, my earth, have always been at my side.
You're the only one who held my hand
and who revived me when I died.
