Mama

by christos christakopoulos
(Debary Fl)

The evening star
Of yester years
Once had you dipped
In love life’s tears

Now finds you older
Fifty plus years
No leaning shoulder
With shaggy skin
But dry of tears

Alone in pain
Abundant fears
In vacuum
Of empathetic ears
Fading away

As sun’s first ray
On sky appears
A morning star
That sheds no tears

Oh! Mama, where have I been
Those years!
