A CHILD'S GIFT

by GEORGE CAMPOS
(ONTARIO, CA - USA)

The little girl handed me a flower
Which I have pressed into my Bible
The flower is withered and gone
But the memory lingers on..

The flower I believe, was given
In love and appreciation
For Crossing-Guard service rendered
I think that's what was intended.

OH how my heart was warmed
Feelings inside swarmed
A gift like this from a child
Literally drove me wild..

Forever and ever and ever
I will cherish this flower
And cherish the love it brought
From this tiny smiling tot..
-------
This is not only poetry
It is a true story.
