A Guardian

by Shaista Khadim

She is ready
To lay down her life
Without even complaining
She goes through the strife.

She risks her own life
In bringing an angel to this world
Knows she might die in this act
But she soars like a bird.

All her life
She loves her angels
Never compromises
Always ready to fight for them.

A mother is like a silent well-wisher
She is a guardian
Though she can't stay with us forever
Her love and blessings are eternal.

A son can share all her secrets with her
A daughter,all her tears
With a warm hug and lots of love
She absorbs all our fears.

Today I put my hands together
And pray with my head bowed:
Oh God, Give my lover and guardian a long healthy life
Let her hand be on my head wherever I go.
(Ameen)
