A Mother's Whisper

by Asia
(North Carolina)

My mother whispered in my ear
she said she loved me
but with a sound of fear
I looked into her eyes
and saw her cry
I tilted my head
and asked her why
she said don't worry my dear
everything is fine
but deep down inside I knew why
It was fear
of what was to come
of what had become
the fewer days I saw her
no longer called her
no longer knew her
only remembering tears falling down her cheeks
reminiscing her sweet, sweet speak
feeling her breath against my cheek
whispering in my ear
the words I loved her too speak
the smile I loved to see
the mother I wanted her to be.
