Addiction

by Andrew Baiden
(Accra,Ghana.)

I remember when I found you on the shelf.
You were dusty and all alone
yet you got my attention.

I wasn't a reader yet at that moment
i became one.

There must have been something about
you but i couldn't pin point it out.

I decided to take a chance and
to explore the possibility.

Each new chapter unveiled
something totally unexpected.

Every new chapter heightened
the interest i had in you.

I got addicted to you and
wanted to read more.

Yet fear griped me as
I wondered
what was to happen if
there were no more leaves to read.
