America, Thanksgiving Day 1621 ... 2011?

by Jan de Wandelaer
(Utrecht, Netherlands)

History feeds my greedy mind
and turkey feeds my body.
Our states are one of every kind:
a stranger waits inside your lobby.

The world is a structure in itself:
it lasts lifetimes to comprehend
that values do fit on tiny shelves
for their beholders own amend…

Wherever in our fragile world
a crop has grown to feed us well;
thanks to this given day we whirl
mixed together in our planets’ well

Mother nature offers us of any kind
enough to feed us all on holy earth.
So stop choking systems of mankind
and lend us your feast for our rebirth.
