Another Day

by Nitah
(Namibia)

The day's events have put me down
I struggle to stay firm on the ground.
Behind that smile, that perfect smile
Is a girl well hidden with burdens as long as the Nile.
When nobody sees,
I unleash all my misery
As I struggle to be me
In a world that's not so free.
The day wears on,
more things could go wrong.
Just another day trying to be me,
As my woes hold me in captivity.

Dear Nitah: I loved your poem of strugglings: I smiled and loved the line about the long river and that that line in the poem was long like the river. Nice imagery. Also, I am in process of writing a book on happiness and would love to include your poem if you agree. Please do email me with an approval if you agree. roberthaiku@hotmail.com Also, there is no payment invoved and full credit will be given to your poem and where it appeared herein. thank you. RHP
