Another Us

by Mike Williamson
(Hanapepe, Hawaii USA)

Was there a decision
that could have been made
that could have changed my path?
Can I be that other me?

That other me in that other reality?
The me that took the other trail?
That said the right thing?
The me that is happy?

I wonder sometimes if that other path
still exists, still moving forward
in the direction I should have gone.
Can I go back and try again?

I wonder if I had told her that I loved her
when I had the chance.
Would the path have led
to a better place?

Is there another me that is with
the other her and are we happy?
For the moment the past is gone
But it’s nice to know there were options.
