APOLOGIES TO TEACHER

by ZAHRAA
(MAURITIUS)

I'M SORRY TEACHER
I'VE ALWAYS BEEN TROUBLING YOU
AND I REGRET THIS VERY MUCH

I'M SORRY TEACHER
WHEN YOU EXPLAIN SOMETHING,
I'M NOT ATTENTIVE IN CLASS,
AND WHEN YOU SCOLD US AND
TELL US TO GO OUTSIDE THE ROOM,
WE MAKE FUN OF YOU AND MOCK YOU
I'M SORRY TEACHER

AND WHEN I SEE MY RESULTS AT THE END OF THE YEAR
TEARS COMES OUT OF MY EYES
NOT FOR BEHAVING BADLY
NOR FOR THE UNHAPPINESS OF FAILING IN MY SUBJECT
I REALLY REGRET FOR NOT BEING ATTENTIVE
I'M SORRY TEACHER

AND I'LL ALWAYS BE
