Banana Skull

by Aaron Morgan
(Peoria, IL)

‘Jade moon and ethereal sun,
‘the Byzantine monument,
‘upon it a banana skull,
‘Carnations and Gardenias,
‘place them upon you,

‘walking through through,
‘the bridge fallen,
‘dote upon the incense,
‘turpentine profusion,
‘dancing lyres spilling,
‘giving their atmosphere,
‘through Cypress we touch her treasures,
‘she stored gold in the Euphrates,

‘Jupiter makes a laugh,
‘warping horizon of forests,
‘glades spurning serpents,
‘tents float as we are wading.
