i can't be
what everyone wants me to be
my heart is torn more than it should be
so i choose not to be

it is easier to not be what i would be
or maybe i could have been
if only you could let it be

i lose myself trying to be one thing
other than just be what I've always been
and that is simply to be me
but even me collides with what you expect of me to be

so what will become of me?
