Congregation

by Christine Holden
(UK)

The chime of the bells called us together
on that frost filled night
We were estranged during sun blessed days
Carefree, too busy to stop.
This reunion reignited the flame
Holly, Ivy, Mistletoe
Wafting gently across the nostrils.
The Paschal Candle stood proud
Lighting up our hearts
Familiar music filled our ears
Mouths open, words recalled
Silent night, special night
Strong in a group
Sharing the same purpose
Satisfied for having made the trip.
