dance macabre

by courtney mcglone
(lreland)

ding, a-ding, ding midnight's 12 chimes,
time to rise for Halloween time,
ding, a-ding, ding footstep's creak,
time for skeletons to rise from their sleep.

cold, windy night, light flicker and twitch,
all you hear is a loud, loud witch,
the trees groan with a loud, loud moan,
as the skeletons shattered their bones.

the sound of the cock crowing,
the skeletons run and scatter,
the death is sad the skeletons are going,
so he plays like it is a big matter.
