Death And Grief

by Shirley Denton
(Dayton Ohio )

Death and grief combine into one

slowly like a poison it injects sorrow and tears

the heart still beats and the mind goes haywire

at times you might feel insane lost in this darkness

at night sleep won't come, you feel defeated

the enemy has won

you search and pray clinging to faith

day after day it's still the same, you feel abandoned, lost and confused

lost in a whirlpool of sorrow and tears

years of memories flood your mind raging like a flood

then one day you find the answer requested by prayer

I did not abandon you

I waited for you to call on me

signed Jesus the great comforter
