Down by the Riverside...

by LUCY
(Portishead, Somerset, England)

Take me down to the river side,
before I have to leave my life behind.
I want to see the shining waves,
and I want to see the sunset.
But mostly I want to see you smile,
for more than just a while.
My breathing starts to fade;
I guess this is all that’s made.
My heart beats start to stop,
I feel as if I’m going to drop.
This may be that last place I see,
just you and me.
You hold my hand,
and take my wrist bands.
And kiss my wrist ever so sweetly;
we are the best of friends ever seen.
I start to lose focus and I stop breathing,
but before it’s completely gone I say,
goodbye, I can still hear you a little bit.
You start to cry and say “no, you can’t go I need you”.
But it’s too late I’m gone from this world,
on my own...
