I'm drowning, going under,
and the water's choking me.
Wordlessly I scream your name
but you're far too lost to see.
Now I'm reaching for a hand
that's missing when I need it most.
I wonder if you'll remember me
when you're sleeping with my ghost.
I know you try to make me smile,
and you're so loved for trying.
But you're so blind, you never notice
I'm slowly, surely dying.
I don't want to leave my flame
in more ways than one.
But drowning in this ocean of deceit,
it's so hard to find the sun.
And as the darkness swallows me,
I'll cry for you as I meet my fate.
And you'll turn and watch with mortified eyes,
because you won't understand until it's too late.
