Elephants in Boas

by Angel
(Bronx, New York)

Sitting alone in a crowd
Everyone wanders around
Always going somewhere
Never making a sound.

Silence fills in your ear...
Where are those voices your head hears?
You tell someone a phrase or two.
They do nothing but feel sorry for you.

Your smile shows vacancies in your soul
A thrifty present wrapped in a bow.
Lost like a pot of gold.
Looking for a happy story
Within this silence to unfold.

You are found in the rain
Just another day, another day.
No smiles, no pain.
Just cold air, light and a smile to feign.
