Ephemeral

by Adeoye Oreoluwa
(Lagos, Nigeria )

Serenity
Tranquility
Finally found peace
Or so it seemed
But
It was all ephemeral
And slowly started unwinding
Revealing the darkness around me
Bringing me back to my reality
Pain Loneliness
It was my fault
Fading completely into the darkness
It slowly enveloping me
Slowly accepting my fate
But she had other plans
Light slowly chasing away the darkness
Edging closer to me
A reaction
Heart glowing
Eyes opening
Staring
Finally
The answer to my question
Tears from my eyes
Outstretched hand
Embracing me
Hand held
Leading me out
Enveloped in light
Turning sideways
A smile I see
I'd finally been found
Would it last
Time only can tell.
