Fill a Night

by Anna Lovering
(United States)

Toss up a match,
feed the night
sky and fill

a night with
orange-reddish
goldfish from a

pond. An entire
universe waits for
someone like you.

Create a shape with
a wall as a stage.
Watch the puppet shadows

dance and drag open a
story to life as lifted
flowers bloom outside

your window. You've blown
the glass that bubbles
openly and photographically.

You'll find your own creases
that reach well within us,
as a bend of rice that leads out.
