Firelight Firelight

by Jaclyn N. McCluskie

Firelight Firelight burn so bright
Keeping us warm on this Christmas night
Deeper and deeper outside it is snowing
Winter’s night is cold and blowing
Tree oh Tree so shimmery and green
Ribbons and candy canes covering thee
Rooftop Rooftop oh so slick
Waiting for our good Saint Nick
For reindeer feet, for sleigh bells ringing
For carolers walking the streets whilst singing
For children saying their prayers at night
Awaiting the morning with silent delight
Mothers and Fathers secretly smile
Traditional efforts all worthwhile
Blanket Blanket oh so soft
Swaddle me tight up in my loft
Now all is quiet in beds that keep
Till Christmas morning we all must sleep…

Great poem, we should read it as a family by the fireplace when I return from where I am at. I love you forever.
