The moment your heart stopped beating
That night, I felt truly drowning
I was not ready for you to leave
Didn’t know the void your death would leave
My heart was split in two
One side filled with winsome memories
The other side died with you
Tears came streaming down my face
I knew, I lost a special being, I can’t replace
A man of humor, kindness and humility
Love, empathy and great generosity
You were clean in heart, body and mind
Morality, the sole legacy you left behind
Throughout my life, you‘ve been there
To all your offspring, have devoted a great care
Your mission here on earth was done
Your body may have run its course
But your soul is never truly gone
I shall remember you every day
Your loss, a heartache that never goes away
God has you in his keeping, now we are apart
You’ll always be forever in my heart
I shall always love you, my dad, and my star
My tears and prayers will hopefully journey far
To reach the most affectionate, adoring dad
I will remember the good times, try not to be sad
I believe you are in paradise above
Shielding us with all your love
Oh Lord! Grant that we may hold his memory dear
To his soul, keep us very close and near
