FOXTROT

by Gay Reiser Cannon
(Port Aransas, TX)

Sailing on a caravan of dreams she moves
Slick as silken notes and satin seams, and leans
Into muffled muted notes that box her dreams
Of furs and pearls and steamy nights.
His steps designed as accents bright
Seem stolen from the mirrored light,
Exposing looks that bounce, reflect and glance
Off languid partners as they dance.

Turns and twists and passing rolls
Indiscretions now unfold in movements
Both elegant and controlled.
The mixing scents of flowers and rare spice
Jazzy secrets unwrapped in indigo and teal
Transform the dance in form and feel,
Until it seems they glide
Upon a measured turning wheel—
Where dreams are spun into a moment real.

Very good and magical with a side of reality. Very hard to accomplish, but you have done so! Great work.
