From the Survivors Above

by Phoebe McEvilly Baker
(New York, USA)

I watch as it sinks, slowly.
The screams hit my eardrum like a thousand trains.
As I watch it disappear under the surface, I wonder what will become of it.
Will it ever come back? To see me again... Or has it been lost forever.

As I wait I look around the crying makes it colder.
I see a light, coming towards us.
Who could it possibly be?

I am saved... but what have become of those that are not as lucky as me?
