HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA

by Dr. Rick McGrath, Ph.D.

Happy Birthday to the U.S.A
Freedom we celebrate this day
With our waving flag outside
Battles won that turned the tide.

With families from far and wide
Remember the one on our side
Turn and give God thanks today
He is the one that made the way.

We send men and women to fight
Using all of their strength and might
When you fly your flag on this day
Remember the cost we all pay.

The red stripe is for the blood spilt
Their blood the foundation built
Don’t be fooled thinking it’s free
A sacrifice it cost for you and me.

The blue is for justice and vigilance
Our determination and perseverance
The freedom and safety of our sky
The reason our people fight and die.

The white represents the innocence
A question now of ambivalence
With fireworks we take to the sky
With pride let’s remember why.

Happy Birthday to the U.S.A
Add another candle today
Wave your flag high for us
In God we believe and trust.
