How It Is

by Southpawokpoet
(Hakell,Ok)

you were
angry
today,
I heard your

voice
and saw the lightning
in your eyes
I saw the pain
on your face,
an it wasn't
even at me,

I became afraid
anyway
shattering
my soul
and spirit
against the strength
of the storm
of your wrath

a million shattered
shreds
lay within me,
and now
I have to piece
them
together
again,

my fears
and terrors
haunt me,
please don't do this
to us today.
