I Met Her

by LC

I met her and didn't know her
Smiling eyes
And a crinkled nose
Laughter the color of
Campfires and courage
Smelling of hugs
And candles
And sugar
Cheating you of days
When work comes before play
Stealing the times
When nothing comes to mind
I met her and now I know her
A house painted bright with colors
With rooms for everyone
Some with windows
And some without
Pictures on walls
Upside down and beautiful
And spiral stairs
Leading up to a special room
Where you can sit and smile and cry
Where gravity doesn't apply
You can fly and touch the clouds
Not the kind that are real
The kind that are not
The ones you can touch
And hold
And keep
Forever
In your heart
