I Say

by Lizbeth Rivas
(Junction City, Oregon, United States)

I say I’m over you,
but how come I
can never keep your name
out of my brain?
I say your kisses were nothing,
but deep down
it meant everything.
I say I don’t care about you,
but why am I always wondering
how your life is going?
I say that;
the night we were together was nothing,
but why am I wishing
we could show each other how
to love again?
I say I never cry for you,
but why am I always falling asleep
with tears in my eyes?
I say I don’t like you,
but why does my heart say I love you?
