I See So Many Faces

by Kenneth Hoffman
(Morristown, NJ , USA)

How much would you pay for a smile today?
A few pleasant words will prepare the way.
A smile that’s unexpected will never be rejected,
A ‘Hi’ that’s quickly tossed will never be uncaught.

I see so many faces intent on going places
Without a friendly wave, in a mood that’s sadly grave.
I can tell just how you’re feeling
By the lines between your eyes,
I can see a smile beginning
Before your tears can dry.

So help someone who needs a lift
A happy face can be a gift,
Share your smile with someone blue,
That someone could be you.
