I Whispered to the Trees

by Nancy Duci Denofio
(Saratoga Springs, N.Y. USA)

That ole’ trail within a forest
Gave reason for us to be
An envelop of love
Arms tightly clutched
Needles fell – pine cones danced
On dusty ground

Nature knew our meeting place
Celebrated love - predetermined
Fate

That ole’ trail we traveled long
In a distance your physique
Your step as common as a pine
Waving high above a maple
Stimulated deep emotion - alone
Nature sees

Our trail has disappeared
I search for a taste of pine on our
Dusty path

Reasoning leaves ones’ mind
Tasting a grain of dirt on naked skin
Hearing a crush of a pine cones
Within a silent forest on our ole’ trail
I thought it was forever

I whispered to the trees.
