In Grief We Meet

by Kassondra Sheppard
(Culver City, CA)

Intimate moments,
Knowing glances,
Broken heart,
No second chances

In the night ships do meet,
Riddles in darkness,
The suffering weep,

Clinging, clawing, strength of will,
A mislead heart will never heal,

Such pity when living envy dead,
Broken back and grief bowed head,
No peace of mind shall be found,
‘Til tired head rests underground,

We are defined by company,
Elusive friend of misery,
Peace to those left behind,
To watch affection in decline.
