In The Fountain Near the Wood

by Ralph Randolph Sawyer
(Houston, Texas)

In a country near and good
Just beyond the clearing wood
Is a fountain in the light
This does bring to me delight
In my soul this shall compete
With your poems oh so sweet
As I listen they do move about
And just now without a doubt
With the ones you long to tell
About small and shining pennies
In a wishing well
Your voice does shimmer in my mind
Keeping track of every line
