Just A Ghost

by Elizabeth L. Nichols
(Cape Coral, FL. USA)

I hear battle cries...
I run from fear.
Find an empty corner to shed my tears.

Surrounded by family,
Surrounded by friends,
I wonder why nobody tries to defend...
My wounded heart that bleeds so raw;
My lonely soul as it begins to fall.

I shout as loud as my voice will go!
Resonating only ...
a slight echo.

My ideas... mere thoughts,
to those surrounding me;
Simply brushed away as a summer breeze.

I come & go as I please.
I realize now no one can see.
No one can see!
No one can see me...
No one sees...
No one sees me.
