K.I.A.

K.I.A. Stands for killed in action
That’s what my daddy was they say
A grenade dropped he saved the day
Saving his comrades was his reaction.

Mommy said I was only a baby then
It was hard for her to accept the news
She cried six months with the blues
It was also hard for big brother Ben.

No Daddy to watch us grow up
I watch the other girls with a dad
Not having mine makes me mad
Mama still sets a plate at sup.

This is how we all grow up it’s true
Not everyone can have a dad I know
Wished I had one to watch me grow
Mine died for the red, white and blue!
