LEAVING YOSEMITE

by Rick McGrath, Ph.D.
(Modesto, Ca, USA)

As I stand here gazing upon your glory,
Contemplating life’s final days,
I find peace in my heart, rest for my mind.
Let the time for my parting be sweet.
Let it not be death but completeness.
Let love melt into many great memories,
And my pain break into joyous song.
Let my spirit take flight on eagle’s wings
And the warmth of your breath be gentle.
O Beautiful End, speak softly as we go.
Let me surrender to your loving embrace
Leaving Yosemite as I join you for eternity.
