Letters from Dad

by Aisha Ortiz

Letters from dad
is like a happy soul in my heart.
I get letters now and then.
But now I don’t,
he is gone, I say.
The mailman came today,
I get the mail, I put it on the table.
My aunt comes downstairs and she said
you have a letter
from your dad.
I open and read the letter
I see a picture of my dad in front of a helicopter.
His last words on the letter
were her name is Buttercup,
I fill my eyes with tears.
Trying to hold them back
they fall slowly,
I feel like this because
letters from dad has come to an end. I feel the hole that is inside my heart.
I feel a black hole seeking in me,
I see nothing I feel blind no love I call for daddy he’s not answering
I feel dead to my heart.
I feel like this because
letters from dad has come to an end.
