Lonely Me

by Amy
(West Sussex)

I don't think I have felt as lonely
as I do right now
wondering what life is really worth
I'm reaching inside to find the real me
instead I hide behind this mask of lies and smiles
I long to be happy to feel alive
but inside I'm lost and dying inside
Life has become a meaningless journey
which seems to be
spiraling out of my control
My loneliness is controlling, taking over who I am
I'm afraid I'll stay alone forever
trapped in my dark and twisted world
afraid to cry, afraid to feel, afraid to live
Oh loneliness please leave me be
let me continue this life, brighten my heart
and free my soul
for I don't think I have ever felt as lonely as
I do right now
