Looking into the Mirror

by Roz
(Great Neck)

I look into the mirror
and what do I see?
I see an old person
looking back at me

At ages 20 and 30
I was a sight to behold
And now at 70, I am growing old

At ages 40 and 50
I could still hold my own
I could still turn a head
and was never alone

60 was a triumphant year
but the extra pounds landed
right on my rear
A wrinkle or two
started lining my face
Then more and more,
at such a fast pace

I look into the mirror
and what do I see?
I see an old person
looking back at me

However, the mirror
cannot see my heart
For youth is eternal
Never to part

Your poem reminds me of one in Timeless Words of Poetry.

May our part on the stage of life
Have at heart both truth and right.
May the powers that be
Deal gently with our day.
Walk soltly across its deck.
Enjoy each and every day.
As we seek to find a way
Before the days all fade away.
