Lost.

by Marie Bowers
(USA)

Who are you? And what have you done to me?
Infecting my mind with a plague of deep regret and sadness.
Punishing me with the silent words your mind speaks.
Torturing my heart as all my love for you bleeds out into a pool so deep the footprints I’ve left have vanished.
Footprints that were meant for you, a token of time and connection.
This wound cannot be mended, I will forever bleed out from it, as it seeps with the reflection of your mistrust and misconceptions.
It will scar me and taunt me eternally.
A reminder of mistakes made and friendship lost.
