Mom your son the Devil

by Maureen Dennis
(Jhb, Gauteng, South Africa)

You raised us the best way you could
and did an excellent job even if we're not all so good
thank you for all you have done
we all love and miss you, each and everyone
You're now with Nana, in spirit, in soul
Thank you both for what you told
Promises made, and not kept
Making me feel guilty as I fret
I feel guilty no more
Raw is what I feel and just sore
A brother who wants us dead
I thought these words were only read
He is the dirt from the earth
Right from his birth
If he never got his own way
oh boy, he would make you pay
You mom did your very best
Now it's time for you to rest
