MOTHER AFRICA

by Leonard Masauli
(Mzuzu, Malawi)

In the distance
A loud screaming voice
Children are crying
Not for food, But afraid of being slaughtered
Where are their mothers?
They can’t tell, pointing in the bush

Boom!! A sound of guns and Bombs
Houses razed down to ashes
Please have mercy! Spare my life
Before gasping the last breath
Where will these children’s go now?
Oh!! Africa Oh! Mother Africa
See them Lord, dressed in tears

Will they ever smile?
Will they afford a decent meal?
Look at their dress, all rags
But we are one, with one accord
To preach love and solidarity
Why killing them innocently...
