My Beautiful King

by Richard Cassidy
(Winston-Salem, NC, USA)

The heavens melt at your beauty.
The waters run from your stare.

Your words scare, caress and melt my broken heart;
In this moment, it’s only Us; there’s no one else;
My words fail and languish.
Collapse, my body; fly, my soul.

Left foot in, right foot sway; Us dancing.

It’s my heart You hold;
It’s my wholeness You set on fire.

Who is like You?
Who can love me like You do? Like You have?

I only want to hear it all, write words of compassion on my stone cold heart.
I raise my voice with all creation and behold;
The words won’t come.
I worship You with tears.
