Nemo

by Caneel
(Maine)

He was my constant companion
I loved him so much
We were best friends
Two of a kind

We swam in the ocean together
We ate breakfast together
We shared everything we had
(Although his offerings were definitely gross)

One day, he ran off
We called and called
Two hours later
He came back

Repeat

Repeat

Repeat

I left for school after a while of that routine
I came back, and he was gone forever

I wish I'd payed more attention to him
Maybe he would've stayed longer

I still remember how we cuddled at night, how he licked my face

Oh, yeah, did I mention that he's a dog?

HEYYYY CANEEL
by: Alyssa

Hey Caneel I am bored and "doing" IXL so I'm reading a few of your poems. If I were you I would hold onto those memories of yours and thank god for making you remember them and even count yourself lucky. I once had a dog named Oreo. He was like my only older sibling, the only thing I looked up to. He was one of the first things I saw when I was born. He was the only thing I trusted and the only thing I truly loved. Ten years went by and every morning my step dad would wake up to hear the sound of Oreo crying in his bed in their room. It turns out he had tumors. My mom told me to say goodbye before I went to my dad's house for the summer. I knew that he was going to die but I forgot to say goodbye. Every second of my life I regret not being there when Oreo needed me the most and I also regret forgetting to say goodbye but the one thing I regret the most is forgetting both the good and bad memories of Oreo. He died in pain, and what really makes me mad is that two years after he dies people make something that can actually put animals out of their pain without killing them. Count yourself lucky Caneel because you can actually remember your dog, the one you care oh so much about.

Memory
by: Rachel

Well no meeko never visited me in my dreams but I hold his memory in my heart, so to me he's still around in a way. Playing in the thoughts in my head I suppose that's how everybody keeps the deceased alive and happy.I hope that answers your question.
All my good wishes and fellow poet writer greetings

Rachel

I Guess...
by: Caneel

Yeah, School Friend, I guess you might be right. Although I'm not completely sure that Nemo fish was named after Nemo captain; I'll look it up.

Awesome
by: School friend

I thought your poem was awesome. I'm also sorry about your dog.The fish was named after the captain so the dog was technically named after the fish :)

I'm so sorry about Meeko. I'm sure he (or she, Meeko is kind of a boy or girl name) was really nice and really cute. Although I'm allergic to cats...
Do you believe in ghosts? Does/did Meeko ever visit you in your dreams like Nemo visits me in mine? Please respond.

Tanks!
by: Caneel

Tanks for the review!
Yeah, I said 'tanks' to prove a point. Because Nemo is- was named after Captain Nemo from 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, not the fish.
