New Beginnings

by Jason Salway

Lonely willow that never cries
Standing Vigil with hidden eyes
Wind swept chills flowing through my nose
The crunch of fallen friends beneath my toes
Leaves and Groves growing through the ages
Living through a number of untold pages
Those empty skeletons hidden in a shroud
Waiting for their day to be proud
Empty nests and hollow holes
Leaving only smoldering coals
Flying overpass a formation of doves
Heading south to brighter treasure-troves
The light of day has begun to dim
The memory of what once has been.
