NOT TODAY!

I hate having to wait for the news
Good news or bad news I wait
When a loved one is in surgery
Time seems to slow down

The call finally comes late
The ringing of the phone
Fills every fiber with terror
Heart pounds the wait over

With feeling of gratefulness
I rejoiced for the answer came
Prayers from friends and family
Caring unmatched endlessly.

Waiting is most difficult
Good news or bad news we wait
There is a time to live
And a time to die but not today.
