Not What You Want to Hear.

by John Smallshaw
(London ,England)

I did not want to get old.
Did not even want to be told I was old.
Not at this time.
This engine still works and I'm in my prime..
..and that was a euphemism...
Which works into the rhyme.
But I did not want to be old..she laughed.."hee hee hee"
I said, "but darling, weren't you born way back in '53"..
..and that makes her older than me.
So we kiss and we cuddle...make love and huddle under the years
No tears now.
