Occupied With You

by A.K. Shevchuk
(Pennsylvania)

It's been months,
Since I've seen your smile.
Since I've gazed into
Those eyes that could only represent
Dark tunnels,
And windows to the soul.

I'm not going to lie,
Because I think that it's time to say,
What I think about you.
And why I love you the way I do.

When I think about your company,
My lips can't help but curl
Into a smile that stretches
From ear to ear.

I can't help but think
Of all times we've shared.
Of how we smiled and laughed
At jokes we didn't understand.

My best friend,
Somehow you have turned into more.
You would never think anything more of me,
But somehow my only thoughts,
Are occupied with you.
