Oh Well

by Lyn Pendleton
(Wooster, Ohio)

She's an old car
doesn't move now at all
and the grass grows up tall
all around her

but if given love
like in that movie Christine
her eyes would glow bright
and her skin would grow clean
and she'd roar thru the night
down some road never been
if only given love

and he's an old star
no warmth he's providing
and his children are dying
all around him

but if given love
like when he was made
he would glow warm and bright
he would not be afraid
and he'd give so much light
he'd give life once again
if only given love

but those who have love
never give it for free
to old cars or old stars
or old poets like me

oh well
