Our Mother, Our Friend.

by Fran Stone
(County Limerick, Ireland)

As you lie upon your hospital bed
These words are forming in my head.
Throughout our life you've been there
Giving us hope and total care.
Your support has been ever strong
Guiding us through right and wrong.
Your love for us ever true
In troubled times to see us through.
Your wisdom and truth have shown the way
Lighting our paths everyday.
Now as your sun slowly goes down
We place on your head a jewelled crown.
Please know as you take the final step
That we honour you and we'll never forget.
Forever we'll salute you until our end
Pure love for our Mother, our friend.
