Promise

by Sheena Dunn
(Athens,Ga usa)

Speak a word of sincerity or a word of clarity. Words of life to a wife. Till death do us apart or until life rips out my heart. The expression of truth, but lies will still your youth. Promise me what? I already feel it in my gut. Something that's not right, but no will or strength to fight. Promise me what, may I ask? It seems as if you've forgotten your task. Words of life and truth are health to my flesh and marrow for my bones. you only bring death. Just leave me alone. You promise why? So you can feel high while telling me a lie. You misplace truth with a substitute. A false analogy of what we could really be. Speak a word of sincerity or a word of clarity. Words of life to a wife. You'd rather com-pro-mise.
